Fede Valverde’s situation at Real Madrid has sparked unexpected debate in recent days, following his absence from the starting lineup against Kairat Almaty and his visibly distant demeanor during the warm-up. Images of the Uruguayan sitting quietly on the bench raised questions within the club about his current role under Xabi Alonso.

However, those concerns were quickly dismissed. In the match against Villarreal, Valverde started at right-back and delivered one of his best performances of the season. He played the full 90 minutes in a position that, while not his natural one, he has consistently filled with reliability whenever the team required it.

On Monday, Valverde was back training at Valdebebas alongside teammates who also remained in Madrid during the international break. The midfielder was not called up by Uruguay for their friendlies in Malaysia, after discussing it directly with Marcelo Bielsa, a decision that will allow him to rest and better adapt to the new tactical system.

Upon leaving training, the 26-year-old expressed his relief and joy: “Very happy. I enjoyed it a lot,” he told El Chiringuito de Jugones cameras. Addressing the recent speculation surrounding him, Valverde made things clear: “Nothing’s wrong, it’s part of football.”
