Real Madrid midfielder Fede Valverde is expected to be out for a few days after being diagnosed with lumbosciatica. The Uruguayan completed the full 90 minutes in Saturday’s match against Real Sociedad despite experiencing discomfort and underwent medical tests on Sunday to determine the cause of the pain.
The club issued an official statement confirming the diagnosis: "Following the tests carried out today on our player Fede Valverde by the Real Madrid Medical Services, he has been diagnosed with lumbosciatica. The progress is pending."
While the statement did not specify a recovery timeline, early estimates suggest Valverde will be sidelined for approximately a week, which means he is expected to be fully fit in time for the Club World Cup, where he will be available under Xabi Alonso’s leadership.
Valverde has been one of the team’s most consistent and indispensable players throughout the campaign, having featured in 59 of Real Madrid’s 62 matches—more than any other player this season. His remarkable endurance has come at a cost, as he has been managing muscle issues in recent weeks, often pushing through the pain due to the squad’s injury challenges under Carlo Ancelotti.
Despite the minor setback, the club remains confident in Valverde’s swift recovery ahead of the team’s next major objective.
