Vinicius, holding the captain's armband, reflected on his debut as Real Madrid's captain during an interview with the club’s official television: "It’s incredibly special. After being here for so long and now, at 24 years old, playing my first game as captain is a huge honor for me and my family. After everything we've gone through to get here, to the club of my dreams, it’s amazing to keep fulfilling these dreams... I hope I can continue this for many years."
During the match, it was Vinicius who alerted referee Sánchez Martínez to the offensive chants targeting Raúl Asencio by the Anoeta crowd. As captain, he approached the referee, prompting the game to be paused so an announcement could be made over the loudspeaker, urging an end to the insults.
Following the game, Vinicius posted on social media, sharing a picture of himself with the captain’s armband, captioned: "Living unforgettable moments with the club of my dreams." Toni Kroos humorously replied: "Now you can talk to the referees."
