Vinicius Tobias will remain at La Fábrica for the upcoming season against all odds. The talented Brazilian full-back joined Valdebebas on loan from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer, and Ancelotti even selected him for the first team's annual trip to the United States. But as the season progressed, he began to fade from view, and few predicted that he would wear white in 2023–24. Despite everything, the circumstance appears to have changed dramatically during the last several hours, and he will remain in Madrid for the upcoming campaign.
He will do so under the same circumstances that brought him to the capital a year ago: on loan. The Chamartn entity and Shakhtar reached an agreement on a loan with a purchase option. He had a strong start to the season, but in the latter stages, he fell out of favor to the point where Raul did not count on him in the playoff for promotion to Segunda. But, at Valdebebas they understand the Brazilian's quality, and after speaking with the Ukrainian club, both parties have agreed to a fresh assignment in exchange for 500,000 euros. The whites' goal is to evaluate his potential over a longer period of time, consider his evolution, and prevent precipitation.
Once again, Real Madrid maintain a purchase option, this time for 15 million euros, which must be paid in full by next summer if the club wants to acquire the player. Tobias has played in 35 games, 30 of them as a starter, and only his diminished playing time in the latter stages of the season has put him in a challenging situation recently. He has not jumped to green in any of the three playoff games so far, but he will have another chance. A full year to demonstrate his capabilities.
