As the Brazilian winger was heading toward the bench, Diego Simeone addressed him from the Atlético technical area, pointing toward the stands and repeatedly urging him to listen to the boos. It was not the first time Simeone had done this during the match.

Xabi Alonso immediately stepped in from the opposite side. The Real Madrid coach reacted firmly to Simeone’s gesture and was caught on camera delivering a clear message: “You stick to your own team, you son of a bitch!” His intervention was aimed at stopping the situation from escalating and protecting his player from reacting further.

Tension briefly flared, but Fede Valverde played the role of peacemaker, stepping in to separate the parties and guide Vinícius toward the bench. Still visibly upset, Xabi Alonso then turned to the fourth official to lodge a complaint, arguing that Simeone had addressed his player instead of his own team.
