During Thursday’s training session in West Palm Beach, the new coach brought out a drone to capture aerial footage of his squad in action. This marks the first time the club has used such technology during training.

Unlike the Carlo Ancelotti era, which relied on more traditional methods of analysis, Alonso is exploring innovative approaches to improve tactical awareness and performance review. The drone footage is expected to provide the coaching staff with a comprehensive, real-time view of player positioning and movement across the pitch.

Interestingly, Alonso didn’t use drones during his time at Bayer Leverkusen, opting instead for static cameras installed above the training grounds. Now at Madrid, he’s taking his analytical methods to the next level, quite literally.

Whether this cutting-edge approach becomes a fixture at Valdebebas remains to be seen. But one thing is clear: under Xabi Alonso, Real Madrid is embracing a new era of technological sophistication.
