One of Xabi Alonso’s latest decisions has sparked renewed speculation around Dani Ceballos. The midfielder was the only outfield player who didn’t see any action in Real Madrid’s Club World Cup opener against Al Hilal, despite being available for selection. Instead, it was Arda Güler who came on in the second half and impressed, raising further questions about Ceballos’ standing in the squad.
According to Sport, the midfielder could consider leaving the club after the Club World Cup if his role doesn’t change under the new coach. Real Betis remain interested in bringing the Andalusian back, but are currently unable to meet Madrid’s €20 million asking price. While Ceballos’ market value is around €10 million, the club believes his potential justifies a higher figure, especially in light of possible departures this summer.
