The new Santiago Bernabéu will have a completely new metro station that will increase its capacity to respond more effectively to the influx of users, who will come to the stadium more frequently due to its multipurpose functionality. The Bernabéu will no longer host just one match every two weeks, but will become the epicenter of the main events in Madrid and Spain. This makes the transformation of the environment mandatory, expanding the pedestrian areas, improving the Metro facilities and expanding the parking offer, which will be under Padre Damián.
The work on the project will begin in the first quarter of 2024 and will last three years. A total renovation of the subway that will cost 70 million euros. The line 10 station, built in 1982 for the World Cup, will triple its current surface area (from the current 4,843 square meters to 12,481) and will have 12 new elevators and 24 escalators. It will be a much more accessible station for people with reduced mobility, within the Accessibility and Inclusion Plan 2021-2028 of the Community of Madrid.
A larger, more up-to-date design will replace the existing corridors with a spacious lobby from which the intermediate levels and platforms themselves may be seen. In the coming days the Community of Madrid will open the public tender process for the reconstruction of the station, which will be 100% Real Madrid, featuring both current and historic images of the club.
