Fran García is close to joining Real Betis, with negotiations between the Andalusian club and Real Madrid nearing completion.
Following the signing of Facundo Bernal, Betis have made the Real Madrid left-back one of their top priorities after the departure of Ricardo Rodríguez. The two clubs are reportedly finalizing a deal that would allow Betis to complete the transfer while remaining within their salary cap.
When Betis first approached Real Madrid more than a month ago, the Spanish giants valued Fran García at around €10 million for 100 percent of his rights, despite the defender having only one year remaining on his contract.
According to the report, recent negotiations have moved toward an agreement in which Betis would acquire 50 percent of the player's economic rights for a lower fixed fee, with additional performance-related bonuses included.
Fran García has reportedly helped facilitate the negotiations, viewing Betis, who will compete in next season's Champions League, as an ideal destination. If the deal is completed as expected, the left-back will travel to Seville to sign a four-year contract before joining Manuel Pellegrini's squad at their preseason training camp in Germany.
