For Carlo Ancelotti, Rodrygo and Camavinga have emerged as two important players. Their influence on the League and Champions League wins has grown to the point where their entrance onto the field has become a differentiating factor for the team to take the lead in the games.
They provide the ideal means for changing games when the team needs to. When Camavinga enters the field, the team improves physically because of the new energy he brings. Rodrygo, for his part, can give the team a verticality that can overwhelm defenses. The last example was during the game in Cornellà against Espanyol.
Numbers illustrate the significance of both. Real Madrid has won 12 of the 13 games in which Camavinga and Rodrygo have entered the field from the bench since September 2021. They only lost one game on the scoreboard, but they still managed to win the tie. That was against Chelsea in the second leg of the Champions League quarterfinals.
Everything indicates that both players will have a different role this season. The absence of Casemiro and the busy schedule will allow Camavinga to appear more frequently in the starting lineup, refreshing Modric and Kroos. In the right-hand part of the attack, Rodrygo has unquestionably defeated Asensio, and Ancelotti has already made it clear in public that his role will be more significant going forward.
